Le tireur de Las Vegas s’est tué avant l’arrivée des policiers qui le traquaient, tôt lundi. La chaîne américaine CNN a d’ailleurs obtenu l’enregistrement des conversations des agents qui sont intervenus à l’intérieur de l’hôtel Mandalay Bay, où il avait loué une chambre. Une opération sous haute tension, comme le commandait l’horreur qui venait de se dérouler à l’extérieur.

«On est à la porte du suspect. J’ai besoin que tout le monde dans le corridor se retire», prévient un policier juste avant d’entrer.

«On va rentrer de force et voir si on a une réaction de cet homme, et voir s’il est ici ou s’il a changé de place», poursuit-il.

À partir de ce moment, les choses s’accélèrent.

«Rentrez, rentrez, rentrez», dit-on, avant d’entendre un fracas qui s’apparente à une explosion.

Au moins 50 personnes sont mortes et 406 autres ont été blessées, selon le bilan des autorités dévoilé en mi-matinée. Le suspect avait en sa possession un véritable arsenal, composé de 10 armes à feu.
